Calculating the Coefficient of Kinetic Friction?
I need to calculate the coefficient of kinetic friction of a wood block sliding down an aluminum track. There are two trials using the same slide, but there is mass added to the second trial (same original block, just more mass in trial 2). Mass one is 97.5 g, mass 2 is 377.5g. The accelerations are as follows: mass one = 1.305m/s^2, mass two = 1.130m/s^2. The angle of the track with respect to the horizontal is 21.7 degrees. The coefficient of kinetic friction should be equal but I keep getting different answers. How do you calculate the coefficient of kinetic friction correctly for this situation? Help would be greatly appreciated!
