What will help get the Mariners back on track? It almost seems like an entire new season and new team is what is needed. What do you guys think? Do you think having Bavasi gone will help?
Firing Bavasi is only the first step in what must occur for the Ms to contend again. Now that there is a new GM, he must immediately fire Manager John McLaren and name someone he wants. It must be made known to all other MLB teams who will be available in trades and what is expected in return. The Mariners devistated their farm system in acquiring players that aren't producing (especially Beddard). They must get players that will be MLB ready in the near future. Also, it is a well known fact that the only ones who want to keep catcher Johjima are the team's owners. He may be the key to several trades which could improve the team right away. I think now that the first step has been taken, you'll see an almost total turnover of this underachieving team. The only player that probably is untouchable is Ichiro.
