Is it legal to do beer bongs in a bar?
If someone were to open a sports bar, would selling beer bongs (funnel & tube) and letting customers use them in the bar, illegal? Would they take your liquor license away?? Could you get the customers to sign a waiver?
I'm not sure on the exact law, and I think you could probably get away with it, but you might be on shaky legal ground in some places. You might be able to sell beer bongs to patrons, then sell them beer in bottles and let them fill the bongs up, but I don't think you could serve them beer directly into beer bongs.
Many places, at least where I live, have strict regulations on how alcohol must be served and the quantities it needs to be served in. For example, you can't buy a beer glass full of liqour - you could buy individual shots and then pour them into a beer glass yourself, but they can't be served that way. Along the same lines, some cities require beer bottles to be open before they are given to patrons, or require bottles / cans to be poured into glasses before they are served. I know I've been told I can't drink directly from a pitcher and had to use a glass, and that was in a city with very loose liqour laws.
Also, beer bongs usually use more then one beer at once - a lot of places have (mostly unenforced) laws on the books that only allow each patron to be served one beer at a time. Someone drinking out of a 2 or 4 beer bong would be violating that law by default.
While it probably isn't technically illegal, there are probably peripheral laws that can get your license taken away or get your patrons arrested for using a beer bong. Also, you could probably expect new ordinances or laws that specifically ban beer bongs within a few weeks or months - just look at how quickly vaporizers were banned.
