Replacing a Christmas light bulb?
I have this string of Christmas lights, and all the sudden like 2 thirds of the bulbs went out. The lit one were all adjacent and the unlit ones were all adjacent. I went to the light where the unlit and lit met, and the plastic around the base of the light was crooked, I managed to remove the light and its plastic base, but when I tried to put a spare light in, it wouldn't go back in...
Do I have to keep pushing harder? Do the copper wires have to be a certain way?
You need a healthy plastic ~saddle to put the new bulb in. Note the two wires from the bulb have to go through the two holes in the bottom and fold back up the sides. But if you have something melted or burnt, I think you should just use that string as replacement parts for others. These "series strings" are not for the non-handy person. You may want to switch to LED strings which should not burn out for a long time, if ever.
