Can I use a CFL bulb in a lamp made to be used for Type A bulbs?
I want to put a 42 watt (150 watt equivalent) CFL into a lamp that has a 60 watt maximum rating. Is this going to cause a problem?
No problem at all since the wattage of the CFL is lower. Two things to watch out for though - the fixture has to use standard size screw base since that is what CFLs have and most CFLs do not accept a dimmer (although very expensive CFLs can be dimmed).
