Ceiling Fan Brass
I have a circuit where I am using the white as a HOT. I have a base plug to wire. How do I do it?
The WHITE (as a HOT) is connected to one side of a double, single pole switch. The BLACK & RED are going back to the ceiling for the light/fan power. The base plug is below the switch. Can I hook the WHITE (common on the base plug) to one of the brass screws on the HOT side of the switch and the BLACK tied to the WHITE (as a HOT) to the other brass screw to make the base plug have constant power?
You mention two brass screws on the "plug" (it is a receptacle). There are also two silver screws, or are you using the term "brass" to refer to both screws. Your switch has a hot (the white hot you mention) and switched hots, and you can connect the white hot to either brass screw (they are connected together unless you remove the tab that connects them). You need a neutral (a white that is really a neutral) to connect to the silver screw. Do not screw up the polarity on the receptacle. This will not be connected to the switch and I do not know if you have such a wire available (it might only exist at the light and not your switch box).
Now, your description is confusing at best, and maybe you should get an electrician. I think you might be asking if you can connect two wires from the receptacle to the switch and get power. If so, you have no idea how this works and certainly shouldn't be trying to do it yourself.
