Is my landlord responsible for changing difficult light bulb?
I have moved to this apartment 4 months ago (changed 4 light bulbs myself already). However, the kitchen light bulbs are circular and attatched to wires. I told my landlord and she said that I should get my husband to do it. So, I bought a new one, and while changing , the old one exploded. I attempted to attatch the new bulb to the wires, but it still didn't seem to work when I tried to turn it on. Is it the landlord's responsibility to change this type of light bulb?
It sounds like the fitting is faulty and that is the landlords responsibility. If it is not faulty and is of an unusual design then it is reasonable for the landlord to demonstrate the technique in changing the lamp. You are entitled to light and a reasonable response from the landlord but you must act reasonably and firmly.
You should not carry out wiring on the fixed installation since this is the landlords responsibility.
