Can I use a compact fluorescent light bulb in a lamp that takes a Type A?

Yes you can use a Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) in your lamp fixture instead of the Type "A" lamps. Type "A" lamps are the regular light bulbs that we have used for 100 years. The newer CFL's put out a similar amount of light (Lumens), but use less energy.
I believe the 27 Watt CFL has a similar amount of Lumen output to a 100 Watt "A" lamp. The 100 Watt "A" lamp puts out about 1700 Lumens, where the 27 Watt CFL puts out about 1850 Lumens.
The CFL's also will last much longer than "A" lamps. The "A" lamps will last about 1,000 hrs, where the CFL's will last between 6,000 and 10,000 hrs.
