Another lovely edition, heehee?
Leprous servants await the pompous crowd,
dining with silver hanging from their ears,
their crowns drunkenly askew. Moaning monks
labor over Christ's Crucifixion in their pearly bowls,
wringing their hands uncomfortably at the peeling of flesh
that adorns the wallpaper, hideously glistening in the moonlight.
Crystal vases and chandeliers, extravagant excuses
for insecure mules, braying obnoxiously to passed out guests,
whose hands and lips have begun to fester and sore,
from contagion crept from servant's cuff to bowl.
O the uproar, the indignant harrumph!
The storming from the royal hall, roaring inadequate volleys
poorly aimed, piercing hearts and minds unaware.
And at home, these men of men weep and dance
for scalding showers, burning their nakedness,
flaying their unnatural pride.
I assume the leprousness is that of class and not medicinal.
silver earrings have never sounded so much like spoon bending
I have no idea what sort of crowns monks wear, unless you consider a tonsure skew-able, in both sense.
I am wondering why the gold plated chalice is pearly.
the peeling flesh (meaning naked renaissance art) is quite clever
the insecure mules is over the top and now I am wondering if the festering is spiritual or actual. Syphilitic?
So are we taking hot showers against contagion or sinfulness?
I don't know why I am reacting so badly to the mules line. I think the last poem has made the priesthood into the underdogs in my eyes, so now when you trash them I say "oh there he goes again."
