I've noticed that when Puerto Ricans take over an inner city neighborhood with open porch houses, that soon most of the homes are fitted with floor-to-ceiling iron bars that enclose their porches like zoo cages. Is this a crime thing or simply decorative? It can't be cheap to do. Is theft of porch furniture a big enterprise in these neighborhoods? Or are cage houses just a style thing from Puerto Rico?
