What's wrong with my dimmer switch?
I have a dimmer switch and light fixture that are both under a year old. Recently, the light has started to flicker when operating the switch. It will not flicker once you have chosen a place on the dimmer and leave it there. It only seems to flicker when you are operating the switch. Also, it won't go as bright as it used to unless you adjust the switch to just the right position...... it's suddenly very sensitve. I can't even really describe it as a flicker. It's more like it jumps around from dim to bright. Is this a bad switch or have we wired it loosely?
someone installed the cheapest dimmer that you can buy they usually only last a year or two. buy another dimmer from Lowe's, home depot, or a local hardware store. there are instructions to install it, it is fairly simple and can be done with common hand tools. just be sure to turn off the power first, or it can be an "enlightening" experience.
