Disco Music Bar
How can I make a dance party look like a dance party, and not like a party with background music?
Last year, my best friend had a dance party. It even said so on the invites. It was in her garage, and she played music from a radio. Nobody danced or had fun. At all. What are some cheap ways to "spice it up"? I have a kareoke machine that I could put on a mode where you see yourself on the TV, just like some teen clubs I've been too. I might set up some time strobe lights all over, maybe find a cheap disco ball (plastic) and hang it from the ceiling, blast the music, set up a soda "bar" with a "bartender" (my mom or dad...nevermind, that would be ackward...hmm who could be the bartender?) Any other ideas?
The problem with the other one is its a garage, and its got a radio. You need a nice, open atmosphere, like a backyard patio Do it at night and have the inside lights bright. You have to have a nice way of lighting things up. You can buy cheap lava lamps at places like target too. You need an ipod with speakers or plug it in to your computer. You can have one of your friends be the DJ if they arent very interested in dancing, and get the strobe lights. the disco ball might be trying too hard. The atmosphere need to be one perfect for a party. So you can blow up some metallic colored balloons (think of a color scheme first because if you have all the primary colors it might be to kid-ish) maybe purple and silver and put them everywhere. You can also put streamers on the ceilings of those colors to. Buy a bunch of food, like finger food like nachos, veggies and dip and chips, pretzels, popcorn, and some sweet treats like candy and cupcakes. Put it all on a table to the side. If you want, you could do the kareoke in another room. The soda bar is an awesome idea, maybe a sibling could be the bartender, or one of your friends. When people get tired of dancing and over heated they need to take a break, so maybe have one room in your house be open to lounge for a while while they rest and take a break from dancing. So hand out your invites, Prepare the Food, Make a Playlist, Decorate and Prepare For an Awesome Time!
When people start to arrive, no one is going to dance right away, they will mingle. You should make sure your parents are out of the way. Once people start to arrive, grab your friends and hit the dance floor. make it look like you are having alot of fun and everyone will want to join you. Your friends can even grab a guy so every guy will get out there to and not just the girls
