The pull chain on my ceiling fan stopped working. I have to pull it several times to get the light on.?
It feels like it isn't retracting properly when pulled. There are times I have to pull it MANY times before it will work. It is hooked up to the light switch, so I could use that if I have to, but I like for the fan to run all the time, and only use the light sometimes. Can I/Do I need to spray some WD40 at the inlet?

turn off the power at the fuse panel, remove the light fixture from the fan, check to see if the wire nuts are tight on the switch. if the connections are good, the switch is worn out. remove the wire nuts, then the nut on the outside of the switch and slide the switch in to remove. bring the switch along with you when you go to buy the replacement so that the new one will mount correctly. the wires are interchangeable on the switch but you can mark them if you want to. good luck, hope this helps.
