How difficult is it to replace an existing valve with a scald-free model in my shower?
Do I need to hire a plumber to do this or is it a pretty easy thing to do. Its your typical shower/tub with a basic fixture on it now.
I'd be curious to hear more about this proportion valve that one of the guys mentioned...can anyone tell me more about this???
If you're not farmiliar with sweating copper, by all means call a plumber.
Shower valves are typically accessed from the backside. This means that whatever room or closet wall is on the back side of the shower must be cut open, or if you're lucky, there's an access panel.
Bottom line this is a difficult project for a novice as you may run accross a variety of obstacles that will require tools & knowledge that are best left to a plumber to deal with.
