Why did my wall sconce spark and then turn off while I was dusting the fixture?
I have an old home built in 1925 that has very old wiring in my living room and dining room only. There is only one circuit that operates my living and dining room. I have 4 wall sconces in my living room that are all wired together, starting with fixture 1 all the way to fixture 4. I was dusting fixture 1, and the duster caused it to shift slightly, then causing a spark and a popping noise. At that time all of the 4 wall sconces went out. All other outlets in that room still work and my dining room light stayed on. I tried to reset that circuit and then for good measure changed out all of the light bulbs and reset the master circuit. Still no luck. I hope someone can help with a suggestion on what the issue might be. On a side note, my porch light works and to turn it on the switch is right next to the one for my wall sconces (which is on a dimmer switch).

They are all probably wired in sequence the power coming to the first sconce feeds the other three. The spark was probably the hot wire broke loose .The only thing to do is have someone with electrical experience look at it, keep the breaker off until you do it could cause a fire. Good luck!!
