Should a dachshunds back be arched or flat?
My 4 month old doxie's back is slightly arched. Do you think he's going to have back problems?
I always thought their backs where flat.
The topline (back) should be level. You can read the dachshund breed standard at the Dachshund Club of America website http://www.dachshund-dca.org
When you say slightly arched, is he a little higher in the rump? At the DCA website, you can wach a short video on proper dachshund movement.
edit: "All" dachshund don't have back problems. Not "all" dachshunds will be affected by back problems either.
I'm on my 3rd Standard dachshund and I have never had a back problem, but then again, my dogs are not fat and out of shape.
