How do I make a tube light flicker?
I want to get the creepy effect of a flickering tube light in an art installation im doing. How could i make a fluorescent tube light flicker?
Lowering the voltage might work, with the tubelight connected to a "starter" and a "choke" as normal. However that requires the use or a large rheostat, or an variable autotransformer.
Alternately for a sure-thing random flicker, you can use an incandescent bulb connected in series with a tubelight "starter", and plugged into the mains. This will give you a random flickering of the bulb at very low low cost & no complexity. Use a milky-white bulb if you want a whiter light !
