Why won't my fluorescent lights work?
I have two different fluorescent lighting fixtures in my kitchen on two separate switches, sometimes they come on and sometimes they don't. Why is this??
Most likely the ballasts are going out on the lights. If they are small under-the-counter lights, they probably have a ballast on one end under the bulb. It is a shinny round object about the size of quarter. That's the part you can see. Grab ahold of it and turn it till it comes out. It will be about one inch long. Take it to Home Depot or Lowe's or a hardware store. They will get you a new one.
