How much is a Dodge Diplomat worth?
I own a 1987 Dodge diplomat with a 318, on factory propane and has about 162,000 KM on it. Still has mounted winter tires and a set of summer tires to go with it, both of them about 50% and engine needs a little work such as valve cover gaskets, rad flush, TLC ect. The body has seen better day's but minor spots of skin cancer( rust ) and the interior is faded but runs great and is reliable to drive and cheap. Also has dual exhaust with hush mufflers. I can't really seem to find any quotes of any other simiar cars and pricing so if any one can help me out by letting me know if you know what a good price for sale would be , Please- let me know asap. I live just north of Kamloops B.C Canada.
In doing the research, I was only able to find one vehicle that has sold at dealer auction in the last few months that I can compare to yours. It was a 1987 Chrysler 5th Ave with 146, 000 miles on it, and it sold for $150 (US).
The fact that the car is propane powered, and has rust makes it a hard vehicle to sell. The valve cover gaskets on the 318 do leak, the heat from the exhaust manifold causes them to dry and fail. The best solution is to use Perma-gasket to seal the gaskets (known as blue glue) rather than the factory gaskets.
If the car runs and drives, and will pass any required inspections, it has value. Advertise the car for $750 OBO and see what interest there is in it.
