Is my landlord in the wrong?
My bath leaks and the living room ceiling fell in, his solution was to refit the bathroom, leaving exposed plaster work and put new plaster board up in the lounge. Problem is that the bath still leaks and he is yet to skim the cieling (happened over a year ago) he says that we will just have to have showers, and as the lack of bathroom tiles and unskimmed six foot square downstairs is purly cosmetic then he is not obliged to remedy this. Having only showers is very impractical as have a baby and a five year old who i like to bath every night. Also the banister keeps falling off (his solution dont touch it), the light in the hall is fallin appart (dont use it then) and the hot tap in the kitchen not working as the insert is faulty (he says to boil a kettle). He also says that as these things have happened whilst i am living here then i have lost my deposit, without which i can not afford to get another rental property, he also addded injury to insult as he has just increased my rent!
Withhold the rent until he gets it sorted. That will get him moving. Stand you ground and go to court if necessary.
