Squeeking ceiling fan?
Hi I have a ceiling fan in my bedroom that squeeks like crazy and I can't sleep. Could i use something like wd40, if so where do i spray it? Also, i have a couple of celing hugger fans that don't stay centered properly and then they rub, how do I center it and keep it that way? Thanks for any help!
Most fans have a very small fitting that is used for oiling the fan, It can be hard to find on some fans but it's on the motors housing. Use a very light oil like sewing machine oil and put ony a few like 3 or 4 drops in the fitting. DO NOT spray the fan with WD40 like the others have said. This will not work and will make a mess and could start a fire after the fan is running for a while. The fan came with a very small plastic container of iol with it when it was new. If you don't have it go to a store that sells the fans and ask them for some and to have them show you where it goes. I repeat, Do not use wd40! Only a light 10 weight oil and only a few drops.
