Here is the word problem:
Huygens leaves his house a little after six p.m. and notices the hands on his watch form a one-hundred ten degree angle. Returning before seven p.m. he again notices that the hands form a one-hundred ten degree angle. How many minutes have elapsed while Huygens was away?

At six oclock the hands are 180° apart.
In one hour the minute hand will move 360° so in one minute it moves 6°.
In one hour the hour hand will move 30° (360°/12) so in one minute it will move 0.5°.
So the minute hand moves 5.5° faster than the hour hand.
Originally the hour hand was 110° before the minute hand, when he gets back the hour hand is 110° past the minute hand so the angle change is 220°.
So total angle divided by angle per minute will give the time.
So 220°/5.5° = 40 minutes.
His trip took 40 minutes.
