Infrared LEDs to light room for camera?
I have ~10 infared LED's hooked up in a circuit to a dc power supply. When I look at these LED's through a video camera (while the LED's are on, of course), I see very dim light; not enough to light the space I need it to. I can brighten this light by upping the voltage, but am worried that i may fry them. What is the best way to set these up? in a series, or parallel? what voltage should I use? are these enough LED's? i only need them to light up a closet size space.
There are a few numbers:
Reverse Voltage (VR)-5 V
Forward Current (IF)-100 mA
Forward Voltage- 1.5, 3.0
what voltage is it? and does this mean I must have 100mA for each LED i put in the parallel circuit?
Find out what the maximum voltage for these particular LED's is and use that. If you have a variable power supply just hook them up in parallel. The only reason to hook them in series would be to adjust to a fixed voltage supply.
It might be interesting to try UV LED's for this venture as well.
