Does time freeze when you travel the speed of light?
If i flew to Alpha Centauri at 99.9% speed of light, would i age 4.5 years, but make the trip in only minutes? because time freezes when travelling at the speed of light? Would i look frozen in time to observers?
first of all, according to theory, a finite mass cannot be accelerated to the speed of light since that process will require more energy than the energy of the entire universe..!!. If somehow you did, yes your time will appear frozen to other observers
but, in you case(99.9% speed of light) time of the traveler will appear slower to an observer at rest. in fact 22 times slower.
when you are travelling at a velocity of v ms⁻¹ relative to an observer at rest, one second of your time to the observer is not one second, but 1/√(1-v²/c²) seconds, i.e. a somewhat larger time.
1/√(1-v²/c²) is called "relativistic factor", derived from the Lorentz transformations of relativity
when you travel at 99.9% speed of light, relativistic factor will be 22.
Therefore, if you travel to Alpha Centauri at 99.9% speed of light it will take 4years 4months 23days. but you will age only 8 months and 2 weeks
*if you travel at 90% speed of light time, will go 2.29416 times slower
*if you travel at 99.9% speed of light, time will go 22.3663 times slower
*if you travel at 99.9999999999% speed of light, time will go 707115 times slower
*if you travel at 99.99999999999999% speed of light, time will go 67108900 times slower
