Light bulbs making a strange "hissing" sound when i put them in?

I know this sounds weird but i have a light fixture in my upstairs hallway..it takes 2 60 watt bulbs. When i went to change the bulbs after one went out ..with the light switch off..it made a very low hissing sound..not a crackling at all..just a very low hissing sound..this was when i was screwing it in...it's driving me crazy and both sides are doing this. I've never heard this before.

Listen to a bunch of other bulbs of the exact same design. It may be normal for those bulbs. I heard it a lot when I was young but not so much any more... my hearing isn't what it used to be.

Incandescent lights make noise when the filament shakes in response to the AC current flowing through it. Most of the time we don't notice. But you may remember the novelty lights, used in those old Coke commercials, that had a rapidly gyrating filament around a small magnet. Same principle.
