CALLING ALL DESIGNERS---Suggestions for a High Style living room Design in a small space?
I am seeking a high style (bold/modern yet cozy) living room design. There are some problem areas. I am working with a very small space with little outside lighting. Also, the couch and loveseat are a navy blue (straight lined sleeper couches in great shape but Im not too thrilled about the colors). The deep blue, although colorful, does confuse me. There is an open dining area and I would like to have everything flow well. I love color splashes and great design. Bolds, neutrals, calm, and light colors are all fine with me. The upside is that the walls, doors, windows, etc. are all new. The carpet is a light grey and there is a tile entry. I would really appreciate your designer opinion as we will be choosing a design within the next week or two. 10PTS for the best suggestion! Thanks!
Just for the record....Im ALL for neutral furniture. This is a furnished house so I did not pick out the furniture in it. I am just trying to spice up what is there =)
With navy sofas and gray carpet, you already have a great color theme going on. You just need one more color, maybe a burgundy for a warm feeling and accent things with silver. Have you thought about adding an accent wall color? maybe a deeper gray, or even painting stripes on one wall in the deeper gray, this would carry the eye up and down giving the illusion of height plus add interest and color. A navy, gray and burgundy rug under your coffee would add a punch of color. Think about adding some burgundy and silver or gray throw pillows. Consider adding some wall art or up-scale posters framed in silver on the wall to bring in some color. Make sure you have some polished nickel accessories such as your lamps. You may want to think about adding a floor lamp for extra lighting. Add nice big bold candle sticks (3) in different sizes with navy candles on your coffee table. Photos of family and friends in the polished nickel frames sitting around always add that personal touch. You can bring a small room to life with punches of color and accessories. You can also make these colors flow into your dining area and tie the two rooms together. 2 large candle sticks with a table runner on your dining table will pull things together. Add a couple of pictures in your dining area. Make sure you have a bit of greenery to add that warm and cozy feeling, even if it's a nice silk plant or a small bush or tree sitting around. Your place will have the style you are looking for and not so fussy you can't enjoy it. Have fun with this and put your personal touches on the place that says welcome to my home.
