My home gas heater is blowing cold air and not hot air?

My gas heater is blowing cold air and not hot air. the appliance does not have a pilot. it is equipped with an ignition device which automatically lights the burner. and it said we cannot light the burner by hand... help...i need some infor. before calling a professional tech.

Your furnace has a spark ignition for the pilot so you don't need a thermo cup ( whatever that is ) for it sense it doesn't have one. There are a few things to check. Look right next to the spark ignition and you will see a probe, this is your flame sensor. It gets a build up carbon on it so it needs to be cleaned at the start of the heating season. Take a piece of fine sandpaper or steel wool and gently clean it. Now if the pilot never lites and the fan runs all the time then you have a limit switch opened. Turn off the power to the furnace at the breaker then back on this resets the limit on some furnaces. If it does not help then you will need to call a contractor the trouble shoot and fix. Hope this solves your problem
