Does travertine work well when used in outdoor countertops?
The guy building our outdoor kitchen recommends travertine. Other sources have told us...no way, that it stains easily. Granite is out of our price range. Does anyone have any ideas? We're using a lighter slate on the patio and austin chopped rock for the kitchen.
Travertine is a very porous stone. It needs to be sealed very well. I would say that it would not be very good for a counter top outside becuase of the germs that would be able to build up in the stone.
