What do I need to install an outside wall light?
I am planning on replacing an exterior light at a remote location and need to take tools with me. I want to be prepared and don't want to make multiple trips to hardware store.
Check the installation instructions of your new light fixture. They should detail what tools are needed to install the new fixture. The basic hand tools that are needed to install the new fixture are probably what you will need to remove the old fixture.
You will most likely need:
Screwdrivers- slotted and phillips, large and small since you don't have a clear idea of what is holding the fixture on at this time.
wire cutters, also called dikes or diagonal cutters.
Wire nuts should be included with the new fixture but it would be smart to bring three or four just in case.
I would also bring along a multimeter just to make sure the power is really off.
