Two non-directional light switches for single light?
I'm looking for a light switch that sticks out horizontally by default. When you want to turn your lights on or off you push it either up or down, but it then returns to the center.
I want this for the various places in my home where a single light is controlled by multiple light switches.
Where can I find switches like this?
You would have to rewire all of the switches and the lights. The switches when pushed up, would pull in a holding relay that would turn on the light, The holding relay would allow the switch to return to the center position and keep the light on. If the switch is moved to the lower position, it would break the circuit to the relay and allow it to drop, thus turning off the light.
The same thing is done when wanting to start and stop a motor from more than one location in an industrial plant.
I only answer this to show you that what you want to do is possible. You would need a skilled electrician to wire the system for you.
There used to be a low voltage wiring system for homes that worked like that. You could turn off or on, any light in the house from any planned location. But, for some reason they stopped making the system.
