Why does my recessed lighting lights go out when I turn on the switch?
Bulbs keeping burning out but only when I turn on the switch. House is new and everything has been good for 18 months. I have replaced several bulbs over the last month or so. I do have three switches for these lights so not sure if one of the switches is causing the problem.
You may have too high of a watt bulb in it causing it to over heat & shut off.
Recessed lighting has a thermal overload cut off in the fixture. If the fixture gets too hot, it'll cut off to prevent a fire.
Generally the max wattage is 60 watts. There should be a spec decal on the fixture that will state the maximum wattage.
Next bulb that "burns out" check in a lamp, & see if it works.
