Suggestions for a camcorder that will suit my needs....?
I am filming a project for a college case competition. For the most part I will be filming indoors in reasonably well lit areas (usually linear fluorescent lighting). The majority of the time the camera will be running unmanned on a tripod. There are a few instances where the frame rate, zoom and focus features will be important but at this time they are secondary considerations. I would like to purchase the best value camcorder I can, something maybe a little more versatile so I can use it on projects in the future but bang for $ is my primary concern. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated. Thanks!
I haven't completely decided on a budget but I would like to stay under $1,000 for the camera and accessories. I would be happier to spend less than $500 so I could put more into my editing and props though.
You did not state what your budget is so there is no way anyone can give you reasonable suggestions. That said, camcorders that do well in room lighting (white balanced) , having manual focus, and optical zoom (not digital zoom) will not be found among pocket camcorders and well as many other inexpensive camcorders. One camcorder that I have that fits your requirements is the Canon HV40.
