Does a freshwater light use the ?
I found a Coralight fixture that fits my tank perfect (used and cheap). Unfortunately, I have a freshwater tank, and the lamp was being used in a saltwater tank. Can I simply buy a fresh water lamp to put in this housing? (basicly, the housing is universal?)

Basicly, Are these two fixtures the same, being sold differently b/c they come with different bulbs. (marketing crap). I have a chance to get the one that DOESNT say freshwater on it, for really really cheap. but I have a freshwater tank, and dont know if it would be useless to me.

Yes, you can use it on freshwater tank. I have that exact model in the first link with the 50/50 Actinic compact fluorescent lamp while the second model is full fluorescent, which is the difference between the two models, As you stated, just the initial lamp you get with the fixture is different, but the lamps are universal. The first model with the 50/50 is meant for coral. My fish tended to hide from full fluorescent, but like the 50/50. If you want to go for full fluorescent for your fixture, Petsmart carries the replacement lamps for about $50. Also, try to pick up some restraining bands from a local fish store as the heat from the lamps wears them down.
