what can i do to make a device that runs on a 6v 800mAh battery, to run on a 5.5v 800mAh solar cell?
i have a device(R/C cat) that runs on a 6v 800mAh Ni-MH(Nickel-metal hybrid) rechargeable battery.So, i bought a 5.5v 800mAh solar cell, which actually outputs 6-7v. the problem is, i cant get is to work.
* i noticed that when the original battery is in place, and when using the remote to go forward or backward, the voltage stays the same; while when i wired the solar cell and didi the same thing, the voltage decreased to 3v.
What can i do to make this work. i know nothing about electrical "stuff", please use "easy" english.
solar cells are rated in voltage and current, not mA-hour, which is energy. I'll assume it is 5.5 volt 800 mA cell
Solar cells have a very high internal resistance. The 800 mA number is probably the short circuit current.
you can put several of these in parallel, which lowers the internal resistance. I'd say 2 or 3 in parallel will work a lot better. Or you can get a 6 volts 1.5 or 2 amp cell.
