Can PEX tubing be used outdoors?
My deck covers over my outdoor spigot. I wanted to run PEX from the inside copper piping through the wall and to the end of the deck to the spigot can be used. I also wanted to create a water fountain from the same connection. On some of the packages the PEX says do not install or store in direct sunlight. Some sunlight will come through the crack in the deck would that be a problem? Any help would be appreciated.
You could install the PEX tubing, but it needs to be sleeved / protected from animals weather and sunlight/ UV rays.
PVC pipe, for the cost would be better and cheaper on the "outside" only. It has a thicker outside wall. PVC can be buried, hung on walls and studs on decks etc.
I would also recommend as the other responder mentioned, to have shutoff valves to isolate the water lines from freezing, and repairs.
You need to install a back flow prevention device to ensure that no water from garden can be siphoned back into your drinking systems.
