Of Envy
A flower blooms at night,
And with practiced alacrity, delicate petals
Unfasten the coffer and bare her enigma
Oh, it is the child of man
And she bears it so easefully:
A brittle, yellow organ,
A metal pendant clasped around that prudent stem
The hindrance to man and individual
Its phosphoric wick lit by the resurrection
Oh, malicious muscle borne of the jejune other
You allow dusks tyranny to grasp your pulsing self
And consent to eternal sequestering
Within some other cavity,
And she stands stony, frozen by the stinging dew,
Forced to adhere,
Obliged to entertain you, corrosive heart, for some time more.

I can look at this and go, "Yes, this is poetry', but, my personal tastes, I find it showcases your ability to write a poem andnot touch me on an emotional level. Between odd phrases and unusual words ('jejune'?) it misses for me
