Help me understand this free world trade, PLEASE.?
Ok, I'm loosing my bacon. I own several different businesses, and I'm loosing because of free world trade. Small business' are going broke because the goverment allows foreign products to come in and break our companies. I am a farmer. I own several different farming operations. One is fish ponds for comercial fish sales. But, overseas is flooding the market with imported fish. Thousands of fish farmers are going broke because of this imports. That's only an example of one of the thousands of imported products that are braking us. Let us sell our own products first and them bring in to fill our needs. Very rich companies use world trade to get richer. Greed. Seems to me if the Goverment controled world trade, it would have a big impact on small business', and the U. S. population in general. We need World Trade, don't get me wrong. But, hey, are we not children of the United States? Doesn't a parent puts his children first, then him-herself? Let me hear your input.
Well I remember from my HIGH SCHOOL history class that the US has been so successful at protecting itself in the past because of our strong manufacturing base. Because we produce things we were self-sufficient. Because we were able to convert our factories to make our own weapons in WW2 we were able to defeat the Nazis.
What happens when we don't produce anything anymore? The people have no income, we collectively go into debt, the value of our dollar goes down, and we go into recession. What are they gonna do about their precious "homeland security" then? Send the military out with weapons that have "made in China" stickers on the bottom? Outsource port security to Dubai? (OH WAIT...THEY ALREADY TRIED)
