How to cite in-text with only one source for entire paper?
I am writing a paper using APA format for my class. I am only using one source for the entire paper (the textbook). Do I need to list the author's name and year in the in-text citations or just the page number? Thanks!
It definitely is better to use more sources for a research paper, but this assignment only requires us to basically summarize the textbook and cite it...it's not so much of an argument paper as simply showing that we understand the text.
Yes, you can cite in-text with only one source but the problem is that if you're presenting an argument with several "strong" points that are only supported by one source, you've effectively lost your own argument. You're basically summarizing your source: "This paper proves that I read this other paper and I totally agree with it". This doesn't answer your "How to..." question but I think this answer helps more. Choose 3 sources that are reputable, and format you bibliography accordingly. See
