My girlfriend is coming to town and I need to know a good place aorund Denver to watch a sunset.?
I'm thinking a romantic spot where we can just relax and watch the sunset together. Somewhere close to town please. For instance, I know Red Rocks has an amazing sunset, but I can't drive all the way up there during that time. So a romantic spot to watch the sunset around Denver.
West bound Hwy 36 towards Boulder.
When you get to the top of the hill that is past McCaslin, there will be a pull-out to your right. It overlooks Boulder and the flatirons. On a clear day you can see Longs Peak. Depending on where in Denver you are, it's like 15 - 30 minutes. Then when you are done you can head down to Pearl Street in Boulder and grab some food. There's nothing quite like Pearl Street.
It's not the best of spots considering you are right next to the freeway, but if you need something in town and close, that's it.
As you said, Red Rocks.. but that may involve some hiking.... and even still.. you want to be able to see the mountains, not be sitting in the mountains where the view is obstructed.
And it really depends on where in Denver you are at..

Cramner Park
Coors Field, sitting on the 2nd deck behind 1st base has a pretty good view - not really romantic though.
I like the overlook at Boulder. It's decent. Close to the mountains. Has beautiful sunsets and is close to a unique town that you can go to afterwards. You'll never be farther than an 45 minutes from S. Denver.
