Just bought '91 Porsche c2 964. Cruise controll doesn't work. Is this common? Ac works but not strong. Help..?
the 911 has 107k miles and I got it for $13k! Not a scratch on it and interior is close to perfect. It has the newer 17" 911 turbo twist wheels and the speedometer is 8MPH too slow? What can I do? Also, the cruise controll doesn't work. Is this common and what usually needs to be replaced? Can I do it myself? The AC blows cold but not very hard. It seems like a lot comes out of the wind shield defroster. Other than that, Car is great! What do I need to do to fix those? Thanks
Get the proper diameter tires should help the calibration. If not, find a way to get accurate data on how far off the speedometer is off and send the speedometer to a VDO repair facility like Hollywood Speedometer in Calif or there is one in SF Bay area also that can recalibrate the speedometer.
The first thing I would look at on the Cruise Control is the diaphragm that pulls the throttle. It may have a vacuum leak or a hose has come off or split. The AC problem is either low on freon and you may need to convert to R134a Freon if it is not cold. If it is cold and it is just coming from the wrong vent, then the Mode Air Door Control Motors may need to be replaced. They are $150 each and there are 5 of them. They are under the black plastic panel between the truck storage area and the windshield under the hood. They ware out and sometimes the wiper contact burns a hole on the internal circuit board. There was a suggested fix that is out there, but it only lasted a couple of weeks and then mine quit again. The one that go out first are the temperature motors and the second to were out are the other pair, the ones that select foot air vs. windscreen air. Sounds like you may need four of the five. The fifth unit is the fresh air motor, the other units are pairs, LT and RT.
