What is the best semi-permanent hair dye to go one shade lighter from dark blonde?
I need to go a shade lighter from my dark blonde to a medium blonde, but it is for a role in a play, so I would like to use a semi-permanent color that will wash out in six weeks or so, rather than a permanant one that will involve root problems down the road. I have tried two different semi-perm. Clairol dyes on a strand test in the lightest Champagne color, and both times the dye came out of the bottle black, and actually made the hair slightly darker, even after processing for 30 minutes. Were the bottles mislabeled? I tried to contact the company, but they haven't gotten back with me yet. Regardless, I'm now looking for a product that is semi-permanent that WILL work. Thanks!
Thanks. If it doesn't lighten why do they have such a light blonde color? I'm just curious as to who can use such a light color if it only deposits. It's wierd. I guess gray hair maybe... That being said, what CAN I do?
color makes color go darker - ALWAYS.
semi-permanent colors ONLY deposit color. they do not lift color or lighten color.
