Halogen recessed lights - wires burned out?
I have a recessed halogen light in my bathroom (just a regular 50watt 12V - the other is a special shower extractor type one). The light has been flickering and dimming for a few months and finally went last night. I thought it was just the bulb, but a new bulb won't work either.
When I pulled the fitting further out from the ceiling, there is a small black box that it is all wired into. Some of the wires are brown and look burned out. I think this is to blame - but how do I go about replacing this? I have no idea what it is called, what to ask for at B&Q (I am in the UK), and how to fit it even if I can get my hands on one. My husband works away all week, so I need to sort this myself, without having to get an electrician in.

Go to an electrical supply shop and ask for a replacement lampholder for a 12 volt GX5.3 lamp, should cost about £2.00 -£3.00, Open the little box and remove old and replace with new. Discard the lamp if the pins are pitted/black or it will damage the new holder.
