Did the very first efi obd1 cars have a linear temp gauge or an idiot light type?
I have a first generation obd1 Toyota whose temp gauge always reads in the middle and I was wondering if they switched over the temp gauge to an electronic idiot light type that stays in the middle unless it is really over heating
I have been looking in some forums and it appears that the engine has two temp sensors and If one is bad the temp gauge will stay in the middle.
I don't think I've ever seen an idiot light temp gauge. I've always seen linear gauges and have driven lots of cars from many decades.
Your Toyota should read cold when you first start it up. If not, the gauge is broken.
