Vanity Rustic

I want to create a rustic, french style in my bedroom?
...but I have too many problems! I have way too many colors in my room! The dominant color is green: curtains pillow, some decor. Gold is my accent color but has become to dominating and unrestful. I got rid of my gold duvet on my bed. I have browns because of my bedframe, entertainement center, desk and vanity desk. I DONT want a bunch of green, pink and gold because that looks too childish to me. I want to start with my duvet because that really effects the room. I want WARMTH: red or a darker pink-no more pastels. The OTHER issue is that I don't get tons of light in my room, so I don't want to go too dark. =p There are too many things in my room and it feels cluttered. Do you have any subtle organization tips? In other words, a way I can store things away and not in the open.
p.s: I tried to counteract the pastels with black and white photos but I think it was too much of a contrast to even the room out.
PLEASE HELP!!! THANK YOU.
This is EgyptianKitten again continueing my answer since it said the answer was too big. :p
The Idea: I'm mentioning a lot of beige. This is mostly because of your color "problem". Green is a beautiful color that is used in french a lot--which is why you probably chose it. You also wanted Red or darker pink. But Because of your darker furniture(French furniture usually is in white, soft beige, ect]), using red or dark pinks should be used as accent pieces on the lighter colors. To keep in mind your main pieces without wasting money and times painting them over, balance them out with the lighter colors. White would stand to much out--depending on the color of green. Light browns are neutral and can be used as a happy medium for the red and dark pinks and will make the darkers look lighter when you do get light into your room. Added bonus! A beige is a very mature color and when matched with a pleasing gold counter part(keep in mind what you do have! it saves money!), it can give a great personality to your room while still looking French!
Please keep in mind that you may switch out the my red examples for your dark pinks.
Just remember that you should try and keep in a good color scheme. http://realcolorwheel.com/tablet.htg/SqfinPalette-RealColorWheel-RGB-14inwide72dpi.png This can help you figure out the best colors that match easily. with your green. Of course, it is best to experiment a little too because of the lighting issue. Just because the brown on the spectrum matches your green is darker, doesn't mean you can't look at it's lighter counter part.
Lighting: You mentioned that lighting is an issue in your room. First I would like to mention--surprisingly--curtains. They are great way to manage light in your room and give you privacy. A nice beige curtain(that isn't too heavy) with a pretty flowery design in red(or any other color you choose)(you can easily find iron on flower design in your craft store in many colors) Buying a much thinner or semi-see through white curtain can let in a lot of light too but still give you a little bit of privacy when the beige ones are open.
If you have an over head lighting, a nice french idea is a chandelier. They allow a lot of light and if they have glass beading, it can reflect off of them. A modern chandelier can work as well if you can find a modern french or traditional one. Floor lamps are also classy and many french bedrooms have these or their smaller table top counter tops. http://reigninggifts.com/images/prodimages/light/ShabbyEleganceFloorLamp10035648.jpg Again getting it in beige or a soft gold can make it look great and a nice red(or choice color pink or green) shade can do wonders. If you stick with the beige shade, you can add the same iron on design onto the shade. Getting thin legged lamps like the example is a great lighting idea and since the leg is thin it doesn't take a lot of space.
To keep in mind: Rugs are ideal for any french room. A great rug with the combination colors of your room, green, gold, beige, dark brown(the furniture color), red(or dark pink) or any other combination colors you choose other than my example will tie it all together. Getting it in a similar design to your shade/curtain design would be ideal as well or vice versa--getting a design for the curtain and shade that matches the rug. French often has a traditional look that can look country-ish. Looking through french bedroom pictures will give you a better idea of what to look for when looking for details that I've mentioned like the iron ons, rug, and baskets.
Also remember your theme, common things in other examples, and the colors you have to work with. Don't limit yourself too much to just what I've mentioned. You can change it, its just a general idea and a safe idea for you unless you want to go bolder or change it. Work with what you have and try and find a happy medium.
Also, the lighter the green the light the beige! or even white!
But to give a nice airy feel you can try out is a nice canopy over the bed. Here are two different ways: Option one is http://www.nicamaka.net/images/Nic-CasablancaTwin.jpg. Option two is http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/448640/3066610/0/1165979792/Canopy_Circular_Bed_Canopy_Mosquito_net_canopy_bed_moving_storage.jpg.
Good luck and I hope I have given you a few ideas and tips. These tips are very versatile in case you change the theme and leave lots of space for you to change and make your own. Good luck!
