White Candelabra Light
Question about lamps and lamp watts?
Since I'm only 13, I don't really know much about this lamp stuff, but I'm looking for a lamp for my bedroom.
1a. What kind of bulb provides an orangey light?
1b. What kind of bulb provides a white/silvery light?
1c. What kind of bulb provides a yellow light?
2. Is a 25-watt candelabra bulb good enough for my bedroom? Like is it light enough?
3a. How many watts is too much?
3b. Too little?
If you're ordering a lamp and in the description of the lamp it says you need a whatever bulb (lets say 60 for example), that means that it's not one of those plug-in chargeable ones right?
What color light do you prefer? Whiches ones are better: lamps that use bulbs or plug-in lamps? Are there such things as chargeable lamps?
I can't really answer with any authority about bulb colours, though incandescent bulbs generally give a warmer light than fluorescents. Wattage to use depends on A) what the fixture can handle(a bulb with a higher wattage than the lamp says it will take can be a fire risk), and B) how much light you need to do what you need to do. A 25 watt bulb for general room lighting would be enough so you wouldn't trip over the furniture, but not much good otherwise. A 100 watt bulb would light the whole room reasonably well. If you're looking for a table lamp, 60 or 100 is fine. If you want a reading or work lamp, either of those wattages would be okay but look for a lamp that you can change the angle if you want. Many desk lamps can only take 60 watts, which would probably be fine at your age. At my age, 56, it takes a lot more light to see stuff so I'd have to get 100 watts or more. A 25 watt lamp would probably only be good for atmosphere, not for working under. I'm giving wattages there for incandescent bulbs, that's the classic round light-bulb-shaped ones. The CFL bulbs, the spiral ones, which give a whiter or bluer light, use lower wattages to produce the same light level as incandescents. A 23 watt CFL might be equivalent to a 100 watt incandescent but don't quote me on that.
